The Denver First Nations Center is a community center renovation proposal to replace the Denver Indian Center, located in the rapidly gentrifying Morrison neighborhood on the edge of Denver.
The design intent is the create a community beacon that is inclusive to all while respectfully representative of the native people and community it serves.
The buildings circular design is representative of the circle of life and the natural flow of things. The main entrances of this building are positioned in relation to the sun in accordance with cultural tradition. At the center of this building is a grand reflection and ceremonial space, the structure of which is derived from the tipi.
